Sugar Loaf Rock at Liberty Point

Rugged coastal cliffs, secluded coves, and deep blue seas on the east coast- but no crowds! Roosevelt Campobello International Park is a beautiful park located on Campobello Island in New Brunswick across the Lubec Channel from Lubec in downeast Maine. It is a great spot to enjoy some coastal scenery with a good chance you’ll have the trails and beaches to yourself.  We discovered this gem of a park last year by chance when passing through the area and when we knew we’d be in the region again we had to re-visit.  And- entrance to the park is free!

Highlights were the spectacular coastline trail from Liberty Point to Ragged Point (approximately 2 km), exploring Raccoon Beach, and a nice bog boardwalk at the Eagle Hill Bog.  The coast along Liberty Point looks across the Grand Manan Channel to the Bay of Fundy where cold coastal waters provide critical habitat for many whale species. The coastal trails are generally easy and meander in and out of coastal forest with many viewpoints.
